Aboriginal Education at J.J.

This year the Aboriginal students at J.J. Cahill Memorial High School have been participating in a number of programs. These include:

  • AIME program: The Year 9 and 10 students link with a mentor who assists them with improving their literacy skills and connections with further study. The Year 11 and 12 students are taught ways to improve their leadership skills as well as how to make a smooth transition after school. This program is coordinated by the University of Technology Sydney.

  • WEAVE program: For the last 4 years WEAVE have coordinated programs at school for our Indigenous students. This term, they have been working with Indigenous chef, Corey, who has been teaching them how to cook traditional bush tucker.
