Art Club has been running every Tuesday afternoon, and those who have been attending regularly have developed their art skills.
They work on self - directed projects, enter competitions or have more time on their school art or artistic work for other subjects. It is a relaxed environment and great for senior students to have some studio time for their HSC artworks. Good art takes time!
After studying the artist Vernon Ah Kee and his response to the 2005 Cronulla Riots, Year 9 Art are making surfboard artworks, adding their own take on such a significant Australian event. Year 9 Photography has been making Dada and Surrealist influenced photographs. They are looking forward to their next exhibition with the Year 9 music class again performing.
Year 11 has had two art excursions this term, first to see Primavera at the Museum of Contemporary Art and around the Rocks, then they went to see Sculptures by the Sea on the coastal walk between Bondi and Tamarama. All were wind swept and even rescued ‘Occy', the lost dog. Both these exhibitions were great and inspirational for the possibilities of what could be created for the HSC next year. The hardest thing about HSC Visual Arts is the teacher doesn't tell you what type of art you have to make.
