Tuesday and Wednesday Sport
The new gymnasium is currently being used for our new sport program that has been introduced in Term 1. All year groups have been organised in sporting activities that alternate on a weekly basis, to ensure that students participate in a variety of sport activities at a selection of venues that have been chosen to organise sport. One of these locations is off school grounds at L'Estrange Park therefore it is vital that all students return their 'Sport Permission Notes' as soon as possible to the Sports Coordinator, Mr Potter or Miss Elliot.
Students who do not have consent from their parents or caregivers will not be permitted to leave school grounds during sport.
Year 7 and 8 participate in grade sport each week. The competitive spirit is encouraged amongst our young sporting enthusiasts, through the variety of extra curricula that our School offers; providing our students will opportunities to compete with other local schools in sport events that include Touch Football - Soccer - Netball - Basketball. These sporting events will commence Term 2, week 2 during Wednesday afternoons and will run consecutively every Wednesday until Term 3, week 5.
Year 7 Gala Day
Our annual school Gala Day will be organised in Term 1 and will take place in week 10, March 30. The event is organised with other local high schools in Sydney region, with a range of competitive sports in areas of Touch Football, Soccer, Netball and Basketball. All Year 7 will be given the opportunity to test their skills of endurance on this special event.
Refer to our school calender of events for up coming sports events
At JJCMHS participation and involvement in Knockout Sporting teams is strongly encouraged. The rewarding experiences gained through healthy sporting competition provides a successful platform for learning team work skills that promotes the school spirit of sportsmanship. 2009 marked the year that our school celebrated great success in the regional Knockout Sport events that our students competed in. So to keep up with our knockout success this year, all students will be given the opportunity to represent our school in a variety of sports on offer throughout the year. We will keep you informed on forthcoming events.
Sport and physical activity is a valued and accepted part of our school's curriculum, contributing to the development of the whole child. It provides a vehicle for social, physical, emotional and moral learning and is an important expression of our culture.
The participation, enjoyment and skill development of our students is the corner-stone of the school sport/ physical activity program. All our students take part in this program.
There are also opportunities to represent our school at inter-school sports competitions. As a NSW public school we benefit from the opportunities for shared activities and competitions with other schools, coordinated by school sport associations. See the School Sport Unit website for details.
